How we can help you.

We offer a comprehensive range of sleep solutions to enhance your sleep quality and overall well-being.

Home-based sleep studies

A home-based sleep study is similar to a hospital or clinic-based overnight sleep study but performed in the comfort of your own home. A Level 2 sleep study is approved by Medicare and meets the Australian Sleep Association standard. You must be 18 years and over with a referral from your medical practitioner (GP) and have met pre-screening criteria.
You will be connected to equipment which will monitor your brainwaves (EEG), heart rate (ECG), leg movement (if indicated), breathing and oxygen (SaO2) levels while you sleep. Measuring these parameters results in a reliable diagnosis of snoring and obstructive sleep apnoea (OSA).
Following your home based sleep study, your results will be analysed by a qualified sleep technician and reported on by a specialist sleep physician. Your report will be sent to your GP within 1-2 weeks. Upon review with your GP you will be advised if treatment options are necessary and referred back to the Sleep Apnoea Clinic for CPAP therapy or onto a sleep or respiratory specialist as required.

What is a sleep study?
A sleep study is a diagnostic test that monitors your sleep patterns, brain activity, breathing, heart rate, and other physiological functions during sleep. It helps identify and diagnose sleep disorders like obstructive sleep apnoea.
What is the difference between an in-lab sleep study and a home sleep study?
An in-lab sleep study occurs in a sleep clinic or hospital setting, where trained technicians monitor your sleep. On the other hand, a home sleep study allows you to conduct the test in the comfort of your home using portable monitoring equipment. While both options are effective, home sleep studies are often more convenient and less expensive.
How should I prepare for a sleep study?
To prepare for a sleep study, maintain your regular daytime routine. Come to the clinic to be set up for your overnight sleep study as instructed. Eat your dinner, consume alcohol and take your medication as you normally would. Go to sleep at your regular bed time.
What is CPAP therapy?
Continuous Positive Airway Pressure (CPAP) therapy is a common treatment for sleep apnoea. It involves using a CPAP machine to deliver a constant stream of air pressure through a mask, keeping the airway open and preventing breathing interruptions during sleep.
How long does it take to see results from CPAP therapy?
Many people notice improvements in their sleep quality and daytime symptoms within the first few days of starting CPAP therapy. However, it may take several weeks or even months to experience the full benefits, as it often requires time to adjust to the therapy and find the most comfortable and effective settings.
